Country Before Self

Country before self. Good versus evil.

These are not mere catchphrases, nor marketing tools to sway people to vote this way or that. This is the simple truth that cannot be clouded by layers of lies and unfulfilled promises of a government that now is known as the most corrupt that we Filipinos have ever had.

As you know, a few weeks ago I made the most difficult decision of my life. It was certainly heart wrenching and painful to tell family, friends, and supporters in Club Filipino that I was going to give way to Noy... but I believed then, as I do now, that it was the right thing to do. Not just for myself or for those who supported me, but for a country eagerly waiting to be united against a familiar foe. Of course, I speak of graft, corruption, and the many evils that follow in their wake. I know that most of you may see these traditional lines as motherhood statements or the usual words politicians use to gain votes, pacify the crowd, and continue this ruinous cycle. I tell you now, with what conviction that I can muster, that these are not abstract words; that they exist in the highest offices of the land; and that the most opportune time to fight this evil is May 2010.

And this is where Noy comes in. People are beginning to believe again. As recent events have shown, he captured the passion of a country and united it against this overwhelming sense of paralysis. Stepping aside, though a hard decision on my part, is a small role to play in this struggle.

A movement has been born. I ask you to join it and reclaim a government that is rightfully yours. A few weeks ago I took the first step towards this direction. I intend to take many more steps in the near future. Let this serve as an invitation to you, reader, activist, scholar, and friend, to do the same.

Hindi ko kayo pababayaan. Mahal na mahal ko kayo. Lalaban tayo!

Senator Roxas, thanks for being open about your feelings, keep it up. :)

Had a chance to campaign for Cory in '86, at doon ko po nakilala si Sen. Noynoy nang dumalaw siya sa aming bahay, noon pa alam ko na that someday he can be our president. I am from Pangasinan, my father is one of the Board members there. I hope that he too would support this.

Please respond to forums, social networking sites, twitter para alam ng supporters na you are all ears. Lahat willing mag volunteer, just let everyone know where to go and what to do.

Sana magkaroon ng official website (kung tuloypinoy.com, let everyone aware), official branding (logo and visual identity), official campaign tagline, etc... I'm sure meron kayong kilalang marketing savvy dyan, just used them.

I am not aware of election rules with regards to campaign, is there something in the rules that keeps you making everything organized. If so, let the people, like me who wants to volunteer and contribute know.

Keep up the good work sir, regards kay future pres. Noynoy, at pag-alabin pa ang pinoy passion!

@Kamalayang Kalayaan yes it is true that there are many unsung or rather unknown Filipino heroes all throughout the history of this nation. And they did the right thing to do without expecting any recognition. They believe that whatever they had given for the sake of the country no matter how big or small, will surely reap good results. Just like Senator Roxas, he just did the right thing and did not expected nor solicited anyone's reconition or future remembrance for his actions. So do not worry yourself about some heroes not being remembered, I am sure someone does... silently in their prayers.

from: Dan NardoIt's - more of a sacrifice on the political aspect of things. True leaders make sacrifices all their lives and generally speaking they are for the "higher good".

he is right this more of a political sacrifice...nothing so significant about this...maybe on their party and circle of friends...

It is Dan's opinion and everyone has its own opinion. I believe on a personal level, Mar in his heart has great plans for his country and his people. But he sacrificed his own hopes and visions for the country by trusting Noynoy to run the race instead. So, it is not just all about politics, family or friends. It is about entrusting the lives of the Filipino people to the hands of another, believing ng Noynoy can lead the country.

Mr Mar Roxas:

I truly admired your motto "Country Before Self", You are considered a hero now, not only to our people, but for sure our future children will be so grateful and so proud of you in the long run, Your decision to give way to Noy is historical, because your sacrifices will not go in vain, it will not be wasted and that is guaranteed, we as a Filipino have the same goal, all what we wanted is for our country to be free from corruptions and most of all to be free from embarrashement from neighboring countries, We wanted to be respected once again, to be praised again, that Filipinos are assets abroad not only because we are way too smart from others but we are dignified and honest people, Your decision to be with Noy will unify our countrymen, not only in the Philippines, but Filipinos all over the world.

Honestly, I never participated in any political activities since our late President Corazon Aquino era, nor have any interest in any of them, for me they are just bunch of fools, How can someone in the right mind voted Erap for president he is just an embarrashement to our country, A fool Erap claimed that the only reason why he is allowing Jueting is because He can't give them any Job, I cannot believe that a president could go that low, As a President he should know that this is illegal and, there are so many options out there, this is not the the only way for survival, not realizing that this claim could implicate himself into a deeper hole, he is digging his own grave..and he does not even know it, He still show some balls and declared himself innocent, everyone watching knew that he was convicted already why still deny it? what's the difference? Our country is not a film that a script writer could alter the story. This is real life story not a movie..

And as for Gloria Macapal Arrow you? She too claimed that her assets are from selling stocks? my question is, in which planet Gloria invested her stolen money to gain that much dividends? PLUTO,MARS, or JUPITER? because in our place called EARTH everyone are so affected by the "PONTI Scheme" caused by the big time con man, Bernie Madoff, Jewish Billionaires even committed suicide because of tremendous looses. so where did she get that idea that she can use this as an excuse to shut us all for the truth? Leaders like these, are making us looked like a "ding-Dong" and for sure their scam will also be historical, as the most crooked politicians.. worse than the Con Man.
The lawmakers should abide the law not breake the law..our elected officials to some degree are criminals because they are the first one to break it...Lawmakers that are Lawbreakers these are Gloria and her family , Erap and his family, and Ping Lacson, to name the few, for sure there are plenty more names to come sooner or later, shame on all of them..writing this letter is a clear indication that Im so sick and tired with all of them.

Now, from a person like me who lost faith on all elected officials, (I can guarantee that Im not alone in this battle), I would like to believe that you and Noy can reunite our people and you two are the best candidates, you two, can help regain the hearts of all Filipinos all over the world to become proud Filipinos once again and become patriotic. Patriotism is the key to all issues, we should all be in it together, this is the time for a change for the betterment of our beloved country and we will support for this cause, because we, believed that you and Noy can be good leaders. With the two of you together in this candidacy, there still "Hope" lies in the horizon.

Im wishing you all the best and may God Bless you two the wisdom , the courage, and the strength to surpass all the trials that will come your way, Filipinos are behind the two of you, and you can count on me too, you are not alone in this battle..This is ours...

Best regards
Leila tugade

sir, i have a question. what if come 2010 elections, the so called "Jesus" politician loses his people support, "people may not believe anymore". it could be just a spur of the moment change of power, as far as I'm concerned, Cory dying was Noy's pedestal, what if that support dies? and it is inevitable, publicity wont help because you HAD the best publicity already. the noy for president movement will die out and you sacrificing for the country eventually becomes a waste, should you not just go for the presidency? noy's track record tells us that he is merely a political neophyte, would we want another one to rule over our beloved country?

I'd like to believe that 2010 is really a fight between good and evil and that the evil is the corruption in government and that the good is the solution the Noynoy-Mar tandem is offering. While I support this proposition, I'd really like to see changes starting at home. Anointing of future leaders for the City of Roxas and the Province of Capiz should be made with utmost care and discrimination in favor of competence and integrity, never on the basis of patronage. After all, charity begins at home. Good leadership knows no boundaries. Empower the Capizenos by giving them an array of good choices for 2010; only then can we say that indeed, Noynoy-Mar is the solution.

Somehow its been years that I believed in ones statement at face value. Yet, I can say that for you to make way for another to bring about a sure change, when you yourself believe that you both are equally blessed and deserving is very humbling to see - a rare quality. Country First..Focused Intention in Good Faith. Unity like Family.. will bring the best out of the Filipino people. You must have seen politicians who believe they are not equally deserving yet they fool themselves first, the people, then run for the highest offices in govt thru vote buying, pretending and fooling the people they are deserving. I know, one by one, each failed the country. You must have been really sad and sick to your bones to know that while they were in office, as lost as a run-away kite, instead of trying to focus on improving the condition of the country and its people, they resorted instead to- graft & corruption - it's what they only know. You must educate the people to beware of these impostors and "wanna be" candidates because these kind of politicians have no insight of what it is they are going to do and no conviction of what they must do. They would just then be lost and would then focus on something else thru the prodding of those that are around them, who are equally lost.
But, for you MARoxas.. you possess the rare qualities of a great leader. You will make big a difference. With Noy and you - two great leaders who are not lost but instead are focused and committed. I am quite convinced that you are going to use all that you know and all that you can to improve the condition of the country..I am sure that you will exercise self-sacrifice for the common good of the Philippines and its people. This is a great country we all call our "own Native Land"

I salute and one with you in your fight to bring down the prices of medicines and other medical cost that our filipino have to suffer for the profit of the multinational. Your bill should have been the answer, but i think their are some flows in the law to make it work for our brother. I have been fighting nail n tooth with the different, but it seem this administration are just doing a lip singing and just bouncing the ball. DTI Sec. Peter himself is one that has been blocking this program. I would like to share with you some docs to prove my allegations and i would like to sit with you and give you my 2 cents opinion on the flows that can be corrected, this includes (BFAD) FDA who is totally confuse and are not moving. Although I know that you will be busy campaigning but hope you will get some time to continue with the investigation.

hope you decriminalize the marijuana policy for medicinal and industrial use in the Philippines to stop th corruption of the police and violence through war on drugs. industrial hemp will be the substitute for our wood consumption and to prevent the global warming.
Other countries has shown that it is safer than cigarettes and alcohol consumption. are we wrong about it.
corruption is the one reason of poverty.

Greetings from Cayagan de Oro City! I heard you, along with Sir Noynoy, are coming to our city this month.

Sir I have been following your excellent work and heritage to the people since your DTI days as “Mr. Palengke”. Although I never knew you in person but my knowledge of your achievements and laudable performance makes me proud to tell my family, friends, and co-workers that you have my vote.

With due respect and sincere admiration of your work and personality, I choose you as the subject of my interview which is a requirement in my "Philosophical Foundation of Education" class in the masters degree program I’m currently taking. I hope you would be so kind enough to allow me to ask you a few questions despite your super busy and hectic schedule. Your answers to my questions will be presented in my class. Hence it will give me an opportunity to help my classmates (eventually their families) my friends and the people in my city to know you more.

The following are the questions I hope and pray you will find time to answer. 1. What is your philosophy in life? 2. What do you do to live up to this philosophy? 3. How did or does this philosophy shape your personality and decisions? 4. What are its influences in your performance as a government servant?

Your response to these questions would be a great help to me and I will forever be grateful. God bless you and your family always!

My email address is faith0127_p@yahoo.com. Huge THANKS!

Senator,

I certainly agree how difficult it was when you give in your presidential aspiration to Noy. That was so spectacular and unbelievable! If I were on your shoes, I can't guarantee of doing same. But that action you did captured my heart to vote for LP party. I certainly believe the Aquino-Roxas tandem is the best the Philippines can get in the next 6 years. I do hope you won't fail us.
